This article analyzes the theoretical foundations of optimizing bus routes in urban transport systems. The transport network is considered as a complex system in which the interrelations between passenger flows, routes, and vehicles are studied. The main focus is on the optimal allocation of buses across routes in order to minimize the total travel time of passengers. Additionally, the importance of economic-mathematical modeling, system analysis, and heuristic approaches is substantiated
