This article analyzes the Soviet government’s policy toward religion in 1917–1918 following the October Revolution, as well as the adopted decrees. It examines measures such as the separation of church (in local conditions, mosques and madrasahs) from the state, nationalization of religious property, restrictions on religious activities, and land and water issues. The article also highlights the specific features of this policy in Karakalpakstan and its impact on the lives of the local population
